About Me

Hey, I’m Tracey aka The Happy Hippy, Qualified Forest School Leader, Wellness Coach, Freelance Writer & Blogger!

Welcome to my bit of the world, where I get to share all the things I am passionate about….nature, Forest School, writing, wellness and nurturing children!! Put them all together and you get a “ME.”

Throughout my life, I seem to have this constant urge to keep learning new things and my latest venture into further education was to complete my Level 3 Forest School qualification in April 2022. This feels like one of my greatest achievements and it gives me the amazing opportunity to help get children out into the arms of Mother Nature.

With so much of our green space being lost to housing, it is heart-breaking to hear stories of children who just don’t get the opportunity to explore, enjoy and understand nature. Being able to spend just a few hours outdoors has been proven to be beneficial to a child’s physical and emotional wellbeing. I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Forest School Leader/Practitioner as it gives me the opportunity to reach out and help the youngsters in my community to learn, play and create magic in an natural environment. I consider working with Mother Nature to deliver these experiences the greatest privilege.

I have seen first hand how being outdoors allows little ones to thrive, it gives them a huge sense of ownership for their surroundings and exposes them to elements of risk which believe it or not is a good thing!!! Not sure??? Then check out my blog post on “How Risk Helps Your Child Develop.”

I am looking forward to blogging on all things nature and Forest School, offering some basic introduction to foraging (yep, I am learning about that too). Sharing my favourite children’s activities through the Creative Vibes page, but through sharing my wellness coaching qualification, there is also a little oasis of calm for the mamas too.

If you are just setting out on your own Forest School adventures, I have linked through to my training videos on my You Tube channel which may just help you if you are called on to put up a shelter, relay a tool talk or light a fire!! Sharing is caring after all 🙂

The dream is to ultimately have my own Forest School, hence my site name The Journey to Forest School. But that, like most dreams is a work in progress. Until then, I spend my days working at our local primary school & freelancing at an already established Forest School with their holiday club and home education sessions.

For your peace of mind, I am DBS checked and have completed training in Safeguarding, First Aid & Food Hygiene. Click here for a full list of my qualifications.

If you are reading this, then you are here….and I hope you will stay and enjoy my offerings!!
